Chassis Repairs
Full chassis inspection, repair, and structural restoration. Based in Omeath, serving Dundalk and the A91 area.
What We Do
Your chassis is the structural backbone of your vehicle. When it's damaged - whether from rust, impact, or years of hard use on Irish roads - it compromises the safety of everything above it.
At Quinn Engineering, chassis repair is our core work. We inspect, assess, and carry out proper structural repairs using cut-and-plate welding. No fillers, no temporary fixes.

When Does a Chassis Need Repair?
Common signs your chassis needs attention include unusual handling, pulling to one side, visible rust or cracks on the frame, uneven tyre wear, or failing an NCT inspection. If you've noticed any of these, it's worth getting a proper look underneath.
Irish road conditions - potholes, road salt, damp climate - are hard on chassis components. Vehicles in the border area and Co. Louth are particularly exposed, especially commercial vehicles and farm machinery that see heavy daily use.
Cars, Vans, and Farm Vehicles
We repair chassis on everything from daily drivers to commercial vans and farm trailers. Co. Louth is agricultural country, and farm vehicles take serious structural punishment. If your trailer chassis is sagging, cracking, or has visible corrosion, bring it in. We'll give you a straight assessment.
NCT and Chassis Repairs
A damaged or corroded chassis is one of the reasons vehicles fail the NCT. The structural integrity check looks at chassis rails, mounting points, and load-bearing components. If your chassis has problems, we'll sort them before test day.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know whether my chassis needs repair or full replacement?
It comes down to how much of the structure is affected. Localised rot in a rail or outrigger is usually repairable by cutting out the bad steel and welding in new. If corrosion is widespread across rails and crossmembers, replacement can be the better call. We give you a straight assessment with the vehicle up on a lift.
Will a welded chassis repair pass the NCT?
Yes. A proper structural repair, welded in new steel of the same gauge and left visible for inspection, will pass. The NCT does not accept filler or cosmetic cover-ups on structural members, so the repair has to be done properly. That is the only way we do it.
Do you repair farm trailer, 4x4 and pickup chassis?
Yes. Co. Louth is farming country and ladder-frame chassis on trailers, 4x4s and pickups are core work for us. Worth knowing: a cracked or rotted trailer chassis is illegal to tow on a public road even where no CVRT test applies.
How much does chassis repair cost?
It depends entirely on how much steel needs replacing. A localised repair to one section is at the lower end; extensive multi-section work costs more. We do not quote blind. Send photos on WhatsApp or bring it in and we will give you a straight price.
How long will my vehicle be off the road?
A straightforward localised chassis repair is often a one-day job. More extensive work runs to two or three days. We give you a realistic timeline at assessment, not after we have started.
Where are you based and how far do you cover?
We are in Ardaghy, Omeath, on the Cooley peninsula, about 20 minutes from Dundalk. We cover Dundalk, Carlingford, the A91 area and across Co. Louth.
