What Is Underbody Welding?
Underbody welding is the repair of structural metalwork on the underside of your vehicle — floor pans, crossmembers, subframes, sill supports, and load-bearing panels. These are the parts that keep your vehicle safe and rigid.
When this metal rots or cracks, it's not something you can patch with filler. It needs to be cut out and replaced with new steel, properly welded. That's what we do at Quinn Engineering.

Why Proper Welds Matter
There's a big difference between a patch job and a proper repair. A patch — where someone lays metal over the top of existing corrosion — might get through an NCT once, but the rot underneath keeps spreading. Within a year, you're back to where you started.
We cut back to clean metal, fabricate or fit new sections, and weld them in properly. The repair becomes part of the structure, not something sitting on top of it.
Irish Conditions Are Brutal on Underbodies
Road salt, coastal damp, and Irish winters take a serious toll on the underside of vehicles. If you're in the Dundalk, Omeath, or A91 area, your vehicle is exposed to all three. We see the results every week — floor pans rotted through, crossmembers sagging, jacking points collapsed.
If your vehicle is more than 8–10 years old and has spent its life on Irish roads, it's worth getting the underside checked.
Vans and Commercial Vehicles
Vans and commercial vehicles take particularly hard punishment underneath. They carry heavy loads, do high mileage, and often don't get the underbody attention they need until something fails. We handle underbody welding on transits, sprinters, and commercial vehicles across the Dundalk area.
